That’s where our Forever Wild Guardian Home Program comes in.
This unique program gives local families the opportunity to raise/own an exceptional working-line dog at no cost, while Stay Wild K9 retains the breeding rights of the dog. It’s a partnership — one that benefits the dog, the guardian family, and our long-term breeding vision.
What Is the Forever Wild Program?
The Forever Wild Guardian Home Program places select German Shepherds and Dutch Shepherds with trusted families who agree to raise and care for them while Stay Wild K9 retains full breeding rights.
You get a top-quality dog — bred for purpose and performance — and we’re able to continue building a legacy of strong, stable, and trainable dogs through responsible, ethical breeding.
Depending on our current needs, guardian homes may receive a puppy, young adult, female, or male. We’ll guide you through every step of the process.
What Guardian Homes Are Responsible For
Guardian families provide:
Day-to-day care (feeding, exercise, basic training)
Routine veterinary care
Notifying us of heat cycles
Transporting the dog to and from Stay Wild K9 for breeding and/or whelping
Think of it like co-parenting a working-line athlete — we provide the training blueprint and breeding direction; you provide love, structure, and an active lifestyle.
What Stay Wild K9 Covers
We take full responsibility for:
All costs related to breeding, whelping, and raising litters
Scorebooks, registration, and trial entry reimbursement for titled dogs
Ongoing training support
Altering the dog (at our expense) when their breeding career is complete
Once retired, ownership transfers fully to you — the dog stays with the family they’ve always known.

Not Your Average Guardian Program
Unlike many programs that simply place dogs in homes to wait out breeding cycles, we encourage our guardians to train and compete. Our dogs are bred for drive, stability, and work ethic — they thrive when given a job.
Ideal guardian homes are:
Active families or individuals
Experienced with working breeds
Involved (or interested) in dog sports, obedience, or search and rescue
Located within about an hour of Charleston, WV

Whether she’s spending time with Jamie gardening or snuggled up at home, Joy is thriving. She’s been trained for all basic obedience, living a rich life, and continuing her legacy through carefully planned litters with Stay Wild K9.
